“Tour of the five towers”
Tour five small hill top villages each crowned with a medieval tower, used at one time for observation and defense. They were built for protection against the Saraceni by Marca dei Marchesi del Carretto who during his reign controlled a large part of the Langhe and the Appenino Ligure. This tour takes you into the back country hills of the Langa Astigiana region, little known even to Italian tourists. Walk among vineyards, farmers fields, hill top pastures, and dense forests, and soak in the diverse cultural and natural landscape.
